Andres Castillo (Spain, 1955), professional photojournalist since 1974.
«I started my career in the 70s working for the Spanish public TV (RTVE) as DOP and responsible of photographic processing.
Soon after, I took my first steps as freelance photographer covering the effervescent political and cultural atmosphere of the Spanish Democratic Transition.
In 1978 I founded the cultural magazine «7 Dies» and I was also member of the artistic group «Imagenes 3», participating in several performances and exhibitions.
In the 80s, I started working for the Regional Cultural Ministry of Valencia as director of photography, while I pursued my personal artistic projects.
Along with my ongoing personal projects, my journalistic photographs have been published in many leading publications including El País, el Mundo, Diario Levante or las Provincias.
Moreover, my personal projects have been exhibited in Valencia, Rome and Barcelona (Mon i misteri de la festa), and 4 photographs of the exhibition “Barra libre” are part of the collection of the museum of Modern Art of Valencia (IVAM).»
